Inspired by the approach of esteemed Canadian photographer, Freeman Patterson, this workshop will stretch your understanding of what photography is and what results you can achieve using this most magic medium. Through techniques such as multi-exposure, movement between exposures, and photo-montage you will create images in the style of impressionist painters. You will be challenged to see past the literal to interpret your surroundings in fresh ways, always asking yourself, "'what else do I see in my mind's eye, beyond what my eyes see and the everyday labels I attach to what I see?"
The objective of this weekend residential workshop is to immerse you in exploring the possibilities of techniques and perspectives that go beyond traditional photographic styles. Film will be developed during the weekend and your work will be critiqued. Most importantly, this weekend will give you the chance to play. You will be amazed and delighted by the images you produce when you liberate yourself from convention!
